§ 14.1-25. Collection of sharps.

(a)

Sharps shall be placed for collection in an opaque plastic container, such as an empty bleach container, a heavy plastic laundry detergent container, an empty milk container, or an empty plastic carbonated beverage container which is tightly sealed with a lid. Such a lid shall be taped closed.

(b)

Before setting sharps out for collection, the container in which they are stored shall be marked with indelible ink, "sharps, do not recycle" on at least two (2) sides of the container. Failure to comply with this provision is a Class 1 misdemeanor crime.
